Management (BS)

Program Educational Goals

Students who complete the Management (BS) program will be prepared to lead within organizations, solving practical management problems using the most advanced tools and ideas.

Knowledge Base in Management: Students will demonstrate a basic knowledge of management-related theory and research by being able to recall, name, and describe common concepts in the following general domains:

organizational behavior
negotiations and conflict resolution
strategic management.

Critical Thinking and Adaptive Decision-Making Skills: Students will be able to recognize, critically analyze, and evaluate options related to current and future management situations, including managing change by:

Applying management-related concepts and theories to personal and work experiences.
Analyzing and recommending solutions to common challenges using management-related concepts and theories as justification.
Evaluating other recommendations and analyses that address management-related challenges.
Assessing current and future workplace and industry trends.

Management Competencies: Students will demonstrate collaborative, communication and presentation competencies necessary for managers, including:

Interpersonal skills such as conflict management, negotiation, and acting as a mentor and mentee.
Teamwork skills such as leadership, followership, coordination, and communication.
Presentation skills such as collecting data, citing appropriate research, and presenting information in a clear, organized, succinct, and professional manner for experienced and lay audiences in oral, visual, and written mediums.

Applicability of transfer coursework to Lerner majors: Coursework at the 300-level or higher may be transferred from AACSB-accredited institutions only unless credit is earned through an approved articulation agreement or approved study abroad program. Courses at the 100- and 200-level may be transferred from any institution following UD’s standard transfer credit policy.

Only one of the following courses may be transferred: BUAD 309, BUAD 386, BUAD 421, BUAD 422, BUAD 423, BUAD 424, BUAD 426, BUAD 429, BUAD 430, BUAD 431, BUAD 435, BUAD 444.

Only two of the following courses may be transferred: ACCT 207, ACCT 208, ACCT 352, BUAD 301, BUAD 306, ECON 101, ECON 103, FINC 311, MISY 160, MISY 261.

BUAD 210, BUAD 310, BUAD 410, and BUAD 441 must be completed at the University of Delaware.
